The engine compartments and also the under body covers of modern vehicles become more and more encapsulated to prevent from damage, dirt and acoustic emissions. Those under body covers or engine compartment insulations made of GMT or FLT-PP need to be partly protected against heat (e.g. near to the engine block or the exhaust / catalytic converter).
Instead of fastening heat shields onto plastic components by means of screwing, gluing or riveting processes, the same result can be achieved easier and quicker with FRIMO stapling machines.
In comparison to other joining technologies the stapling process needs no previously prepared holes. The advantage is that the tooling technology of the previous process steps can be designed more simple and economical. This has also positive influence on the possible tolerances. The used staples are much more cost effective than screws, rivets or clips.
Further processes can be integrated in these innovative FRIMO stapling machines. Due to the increasing number of variants it can be recommendable to combine classic punching processes with stapling.
The advantages at one glance:
- Simple, reliable and economic process
- Use of different fixtures for the manufacture of variants
- High productivity
- Compact and easy to operate
